The 15 Minutes That Changed Everything (And What It Has to Do With Your Recovery)
Hello, beautiful soul,
I want to ask you something before we go any further.
What is the one thing — the single thing — that your body cannot function without? Not a supplement. Not a protocol. Not a treatment.
A practice. A ritual. Something that belongs only to you and the version of yourself that is getting well.
If you don't know the answer yet, that's okay. I want to plant the question now, because everything I'm about to share comes back to it.
🚿 The Shower That Is Actually Medicine
One of the women in our current VFI group — someone managing a complex 10-year immune journey — described her post-work ritual on a recent call.
She comes home, puts her things away, washes her dishes. Then she takes a shower.
Not just a shower. The shower that washes away whatever the day brought in. The transition. The line between what happened out there and who she gets to be in here.
"After the shower, I feel like a completely different person. And if it gets interrupted, I get really cranky. So it's better to just take the 15 minutes and not be cranky. Own the 15 minutes."
She discovered it — through the process of learning what her body specifically needed. And now it isn't optional. Not because someone told her it should be, but because when it gets interrupted, she can feel the difference immediately.
That's how you know something has become a true non-negotiable. Not because you scheduled it. Because your body protests when it's missing.
🌅 What Non-Negotiables Actually Are
In the same call, another woman described hers: morning affirmations, because she doesn't want to live inside limitations — she wants to see beyond them. Evening gratitude, because it closes the day with something worth holding. And a shower she calls her sacred healing time to surrender everything that doesn't belong to her and let it go down the drain.
Melissa's own non-negotiable — the one she has maintained for nearly a decade of MS-symptom-free living — is a nightly bath and her daily water practice. Not because she has to. Because she knows what happens to her terrain when she doesn't.
These are not wellness tips. They are infrastructure. The difference between a body that is always running on emergency reserves and a body that actually has something to draw from.
Every person's non-negotiables are different. That is the point. Our Vibrant Foundations Immersion experience doesn't hand you a list of habits to adopt. It creates the conditions under which your own body reveals what it cannot live without — and then it teaches you to protect those things like your recovery depends on them.
Because it does.
🌳 The Fruit Tree and the Work You Can't See
I want to speak to something that comes up in almost every group, at almost every stage of the program.
You are doing the work. Faithfully. Some days it feels like something is shifting. Other days — nothing. Or worse, a step backward. And the voice in your head starts asking whether any of it is actually working.
Here is what I want you to hold onto when that voice gets loud:
"It's like a fruit tree. The fruit is the last thing to be seen/experienced. You have to trust that everything is shifting, even though you can't see it yet."
The root system is growing. The branches are strengthening. The internal shifts — in drainage, in liver function, in the nervous system, in the patterns you've been running for decades — are happening below the surface, long before anything visible appears above it.
The fruit is the last thing…it’s the result of the work. Not the first.
What this means practically: the absence of visible change is not evidence that nothing is happening. It is often evidence that the deeper work is underway. And the clients who stay in it long enough to reach the fruit — they are the ones who understood this before they needed it.
🪞 The Practice Nobody Talks About
I want to share something personal. Something I still work on.
Mirror work.
Standing in front of the mirror. Looking into your own eyes. And saying: I love you.
I have been doing this for years. And there are still mornings when I can't quite hold my own gaze. Still moments when the words feel like they belong to someone else. I've stood there with tears coming down, unable to say it at all.
I share this not to make it sound harder than it needs to be, but because I think every person who has spent years managing, pushing through, putting themselves last — deserves to know that this practice is hard for the person teaching it too. You are not behind. You are not failing at it. It is simply the work of rebuilding a relationship that was never taught to us.
There's nothing between you and you in that mirror. No protocol. No lab result. Just the question of whether you can look at the person you've been carrying this whole time and finally offer her/him something kind.
That is also terrain work. And it matters as much as anything else we do.
💚 Where This Leaves You
At the end of that call, I asked the group for one word. Just one that they think of when they think of the Vibrant Foundations Immersion that they are walking through.
One woman said: Same. We're all more similar than we think.
Another said: Hope. There's always hope. No matter how dark it gets.
A third said: Resilient. Because if we weren't, we wouldn't still be here.
Same. Hope. Resilient.
Those three words, from three women who showed up to a group call on a Thursday and were honest about where they were — that is what this community is.
If you've been doing this alone, wondering why you can't figure it out, waiting to feel ready —
There is a seat in this group for you. And there is a conversation I'd like to have with you first.
